For what reason were parts of the "between frames" area paint red and some black?

I have asked that same question, Brian. Only to be told "just because that was how they did it."

Perhaps someone else can enlighten us. Confused

Come on! Someone out there must know.

I've alway assumed it was because those were the bits the public could see, when they were standing on the platform

Prompted by John`s comments, Tony says the red bits remain accessible when the loco is in service. The black bits don`t. Have no idea if this is the answer but it`s the best we have so far! Unless you know differently?

Further welding of stiffeners to stretchers by Phil Harvey & Son took place over the weekend just gone.

Today's teamwork saw the installation of one of the vertical stretchers and further work on the rear buffer beam.

A further pattern was dispatched to Cheshire today for storage pending casting when needed. Thanks are due to Duncan Chandler for gathering the dimensions for the drawing from the identical Flexible Stretcher Bracket on the frames of 75069. Remarkably despite the availability of the vast majority of relevant drawings this particular one appears not to have survived. It is thought that this is because it is a LMS drawing in the D46 xxxxx range.

I dont think this has been mentioned before, but a date for your diaries is Saturday 10th April at 11-00 am, upstairs at the Kidderminster Railway Museum, for the first AGM of the Trust.

Strictly speaking- the first official AGM of the Trust. We have been holding annual meetings for several years`.

I don`t see why not, Roger, we usually have a monthly update. Still a few days to go!

No not Saturday, our webmaster doesn`t do Saturdays. In truth there is not a lot of progress since our member`s newsletter- the snow has made sure of that. Watch www.82045.org.uk and see what we can conjure up.

Model Rail magazine in association with Rmweb and MREmag has unveiled the results of its 'Model of the Year' reader poll. Bachmann has won the manufacturer of the Year award for 4mm scale/00 gauge. Their model of the Riddles 3MT 2-6-2T came second to City of Truro with 22% and 31% of the votes respectively from the combined readership.

The 2-6-2T even received more votes than the Hornby model of the BR Clan Pacific. The latter is also an exceptionally fine model in its own right.

Models of the 2-6-2T are available for purchase from the Severn Valley Railway shops.
