Thanks for that, Nick.
I've added a link to the 813 group's list to the Wikipedia page.
I've also started formatting the existing list in to a table to match the carriage list above it. I'm not sure if my sandbox page is viewable to anyone else, here's the link anyway if anyone wants to suggest any changes or extra columns.

I'll wait until it's complete before publishing it to the main page.
I'm working solely off the 813 list. Is it OK to plagiarise like that?

The effort involved in producing an up to date stock book is very much appreciated for those members who cannot often visit the railway.
However is it possible to show a date for each of the photographs published?
It would of course be ideal to have a current snap of every carriage and wagon, so that current and future restoration status could be readily observed. But failing such a labour intensive effort, identifying older photographs as such would still be useful.

Can I also make a plea for a personal favorite, the Southern Railway Queen Mary Bogie Brake van 56291. One of the strengths of the SVR is that it does not have sidings full of derelict never likely to be restored stock. and the Railways restoration efforts to date have been nothing short of prodigious.
Unfortunately what is presumably a current photograph of this vehicle shows it well on the way to complete disintegration.
There are several fully restored examples of this charismatic vehicle currently in preservation and if it has no place in a GWR branch line, can it
at least be offered to another railway. The Bluebell seems to find its large balconies very useful for its footplate experience courses.

Nick asked for some constructive comments. Firstly, many thanks to Nick and Graham, a real labour of love and something that is needed.

I'm not sure if the coach groupings might better reflect the style 'London & North Eastern and constituents' or similar as it would encompass the predecessor companies (such as GNR, Barry etc) and vehicles built after Nationalisation?

The owner and vehicle number could each be hyperlinked so that, for example, the GW(SVR)A and its description of 650 can be accessed. (If it could be expanded in time to include additional info where there is no more specific site that would be really good too).

I'd find it useful to have a line saying in use, undergoing renovation at xxx, in store at xxx etc.

It's easier to find from Graham's table is vehicles where you only know the number but not the company, so looking up 302080 is easier if (like me) you don't know it's a Caledonian Railway vehicle, so in that sense the two are complementary.

There's a couple of minor quibbles on owner names - 'SVR (Holdings) PLC Ltd' shouldn't have the Ltd but SVR Charitable Trust should have one.

I hope the above is helpful and, again, really well done for this

Patrick

I believe the pic of 56291 is from VCT database and was taken in 2010

I've read mention of a Stock Book, but never seen one for sale. I suspect it would be out of date by now anyway.

Ninth edition, 1998.

It's been said on here for some time that a new edition is in preparation, and I did see (Express Points?) a request for a photo of an item of stock recently, so it's a work in progress.

IMO yes, an online version should be a gimme.

Patrick

I am told it 'will' be out in 2015, for the anniversary... Smile

Have reuploaded(?)myStock List.
First time round the list ran me rather than I ran the list.
HTML code is not easily reread time after time.
Did not like the results.... Was going to bin the lot ...with Wiki and SVRWiki...... Decided to have another go....A lot of time, effort and asking for the use of photographs.
Have an ambition to photograph all this lot again to my standard.....once a professional photographer back in the 1980's!
They might be a few gremlins on the pages....yet not so many.
Will be re re re reading it again next week. Next month will add plant and DMUs. Then......
Hope you enjoy the improved version.

Will be asking for some clarification next week.....need to take a break .
The Fund is now on Facebook.
