BBC Live reporting

The Severn Valley Railway says it will be selling shares this winter to help raise funds for a major overhaul of Bridgnorth station.

The work is expected to cost around 5m and the railway says all the money raised from the share issue will be spent on this project.

SVR Infrastructure Manager Chris Bond said that since the railway opened in Bridgnorth in 1965 a lot of the focus of its efforts had been at the Worcestershire end of the line - and it was now time to redress the balance.

We are now returning to Bridgnorth to look at what we need to do there to make the Bridgnorth end of the railway a more fitting entrance to what we have."
