Please note that due to work being concentrated on D9009 ‘ALYCIDON’ and 55019 ‘ROYAL HIGHLAND FUSILIER’ at York this weekend (sorting out a few items and carrying out an external clean after the Tweedbank trip, and making final preparations for the SVR driver experience visit respectively), the DPS depot will not be open on April 16th.

55019 ‘Royal Highland Fusilier’ –Class 55 - During a routine inspection of an issue was found with the locomotive that requires some repairs before moving onto the Epping and Ongar Railway in September. The SVR have offered the facilities of the new TMD [Kidderminster diesel depot] for this work. We wish to thank the SVR for this kind offer, in particular Rowland Bull, Depot Manager and Jonathan Dunster (Deltic Preservation Society Limited).

EDIT June 25th/26th

At the SVR, Stuart, Adrian, Ray and Mike, plus a lot of help from Roland and the team of great people at the SVR were busy on 19. It has a burst air pipe under the no.2 nose end air intake grills. The grills, traction motor blower and some of the air tanks were taken out. This allowed the broken pipe to be removed. It’s gone as a pattern for a new one. Some metalwork repairs are required to the grills and surrounding frame and plating. This will get done by contractors in the coming few weeks.

This coming Saturday, 16th July, visitors will be able to view 55019 ‘ROYAL HIGHLAND FUSILIER’ in the Diesel Depot at Kidderminster and the work progressing on repairs which require replacement of a broken air pipe. DPS Board member Stuart Page will be present. The depot is open as part of the Severn Valley Railway’s ‘Peep Behind the Scenes’ event, where for an additional £5, visitors can access different areas of the SVR not normally open to the public

She left the SVR today https://www.facebook.com/svrofficial/photos/a.216795638398146.51477.215794101831633/1095248560552845/?type=3&theater

From the DPS http://thedps.co.uk/ (with pics):

Two and a half months of hard work in repairing 55019, which included additional work discovered and the reason for the break down in the air pipe in the first place, concluded with the Members Day special. This didn’t go quite to plan with pre-running checks Friday evening, when the No 2 end traction motor blower junction box connections melted during the running of the locomotive. On previous 2 1/2 hr test ruining a few weeks earlier everything was fine. As per Graham’s report yesterday, this will be repaired on Thursday.

55019 will be leaving Kidderminster by load loader on Tuesday for its week stay at the Great Central Railway where the loco will appear at the line’s diesel gala as well as being used on Driver Experience.

Thanks to the SVR for allowing us use of the new TMD facilities and the DTG in helping with repairs.
