1940's and capitalisation of Event.
The event is not owned by 1940.

It appears that the website and leaflet do not agree about the wedding at Arley. The event leaflet says there are two taking place, one at 1130 and the other at 1430. The website on the other hand explicitly states there is one at 1430 only.

I asked the events co-ordinator about this, and he's changed the website to say
"A 1940s wedding at 2.30pm only (please note, there has been a change to the Event Information & Timetable and the morning wedding will no longer be taking place)."

The flypast details for this weekend as I understand matters.
Sat 25 Hurricane
Sun 26 Spit

Great to watch but not easy to capture on film!

Reg.

Unfortunately, the BBMF Flypast will not be taking place today due to issues with the aircraft that were discovered this afternoon.
We apologise for any disappointment this may cause.

The local newspaper
http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/huge_turnout_for_1940s_weekend_prompts_safety_concerns_on_north_norfolk_railway_1_4701050
reports the North Norfolk Railway had a bumper turnout at their 1940's event with people being turned away on safety reasoning.

By the way how well did the SVR event go? It seems the special events are shown on this forum but the follow up does not seem to happen?

Just wondering.

Regards
Reg

Hi Reg,

As far as follow ups go news tends to leak out in periodic updates from the GM but people are free to add them here.

In this case a comment in SVR News Autumn 2016 in the GM's notes suggested a drop in numbers. I'm not sure if you're an SVR member but copies will be available to purchase in Kidderminster and Bridgnorth shops for £3.

Regards

Patrick

Hello Patrick,

Thank you for the comments. Yes I have read the 'News' but missed the drop in numbers comment. What intrigued me was the photograph of the huge numbers of 1940's visitors in Sheringham. Does it appear that the whole town took part in the railway event? I wonder what the actual numbers were? Is there something here that the SVR event could learn from for 2017?

Regards
Reg.
