Please see notice board NBI-M-024 Ghost Trains - helpers required! Please circulate widely!

Best regards

Clare Gibbard
Marketing & Communications Manager

We’re on the hunt for volunteers to help with our Ghost Trains event on October 29th, 30th and 31st!

Our Ghost Trains at Halloween are growing in popularity with all but a few seats selling out over the last few years. As an event, the Ghost Trains bring in essential additional revenue for the Railway during the last quarter of the year.

Key to the operation is the conversion of Arley station into a scary venue populated with horrible witches and ghouls. This is where help is needed! We need a number of volunteers per evening to get dressed up and be a part of the spooky entertainment at Arley.

So, if you want to experience something different and have a great time too, please get in contact. Job descriptions are available and full training will be given, so if you are any age up to 250 (or older with medical certificate) please email Lewis Maddox, Events Co-ordinator at lewis.maddox@svrlive.com or call 01562 757910.

If you could circulate this message widely to anyone that may wish to help it would be very much appreciated.

We look forward to hearing from you.

From the SVR web site

Take a ride on the Ghost Train

Dare to take a thrilling ride in the dark! Our Ghost Trains are a 'sell-out' every year and early booking is strongly advised.

Trains depart from, and hopefully return to, Kidderminster on October 27th, 28th & 29th. TICKETS NOW AVAILABLE!

Arrive early at our station at Kidderminster where our Spooky DJ will be there to entertain you before your Ghost Train departs out into the night and, hopefully, back!

We'll also have a facepainter on hand to give you the perfect Halloween makeover.

Travel in the eery darkness to Arley, passing through our haunted stations on the way. When you arrive, prepare to be frightened as the station's spooky residents come alive!

Make sure you hold tight, there may also be mysterious passengers joining you on the train...

'Spooky Goody Bags' for all fare-paying children.

Revised fares apply. Annual Family Pass NOT VALID.

Advance booking is essential. Tickets will be despatched in September 2016.

The Fifty Fund's Facebook page includes a comment "Fifties are booked out on Ghost Trains on 27th to 29th Oct."

Reggies light bulb moment!
Could another train or trains be offered to generate more income for the railway?

I don't know but I suspect not.

Trains are running at 6.00pm, 7.10pm & 8.20pm with 8 MkIs top and tailed.

Earlier and it runs into the standard service and isn't dark. A 9.30pm start means a finish around 10.30 pm, quite late for a family event I would have thought?

I guess at this stage there are also enactors, staff/volunteers, rest times and the like to consider? Organising Sunday 30th/Monday 31st at such short notice wouldn't be easy either.

I remember last year on one of the days the last service arrival at KR was due to be 16.55 (ish) but due to late running it was like after 17.30 when it arrived and we had already started to loading the 18.00 one. It was a bit of pain dealing the crowds for both.

You can't really added an extra train in each day as it'll either be too early or far too late. And adding an extra day with 2 weeks to go is too short notice for many.
