I reckon that at the end of it,s 10 year ticket it will more than have recouped it's overhaul costs

4.2million over 10 years works out at around 8000 a week.
I have no idea what the hire fees are, either for galas or main line running, and nobody knows what the level of interest is going to be in nine years time.
If it maintains its popularity and ability to sell out events, is it possible that it might actually return a profit for the NRM?

Yes, what a lot of money! But to be accurate, the 6.8m includes the purchase price - the restoration was 4.5m.

But still a lot of money.
Agreed. Especially when Tornado cost 3m as new build in 2008. Could the difference be due to full commercial rates for the FS versus an element of free (volunteer) effort on T?

Reg.

I always thought the problem was that the NRM tried to take on an overhaul of FS that was way beyond its engineering and project management capabilities. It was then handed over to Ian Riley's company to sort out the mess. Tyseley's Bob Meanley's report on the fiasco is well worth reading if you want to know why costs spiralled upwards.
