A little searching on the Pullman web site reveals the train is out on business 12 February. Starts from Coventry at 1pm if I have the facts right!

It's away in the early hours on Friday morning, down to Victoria for a UK Railtours working.

Something I just found out, on Saturday it leaves Paddington at 12.35 with a special for the Rugby in Cardiff, 20.08 from Cardiff on the return. Clocking up a few miles over the 3 days!

I noticed one of the Northern Belle carriages outside the carriage works today and, as far as I could tell from a passing train, it looked like it had recently been painted. It certainly looked a lot better than those on CS1.
Could it be that the SVR is providing more than just routine maintenance?

Reported on this week's Railway Herald [online magazine] that VSOE are in talks to sell the Northern Belle to a joint venture including David Smith, owner of West Coast Railways, and that if it goes through, the set would be based at Carnforth instead of on the SVR. VSOE hope to complete the deal by the end of this month [October].
West Coast would then take over the operation of the train from DRS.

SVR has a 10-year deal with Northern Belle for it to be based here, which would evidently not be continued.

Watch this space!!

The rumours have been around for several weeks "in other places", was wondering when it would be made a bit more "official".

I wonder what the penalty for breaking the agreement will be.

We were never told the details of the agreement, so I think it's highly unlikely we will be told what the penalty for breaking the agreement is.
Weren't some paid staff taken on in connection with Northern Belle? I don't suppose they were there long enough to qualify for redundancy pay.
It'll be nice to have CS1 back for SVR use again. Another wagon stored on the Tenbury siding has been set fire to recently.

I heard this rumour as well yesterday it would be a shame to loose the contract as I am sure it is a good money earner. I wonder what extra staff SVR employed on the back of the contract and what would their position be?

There were certainly advertisements for additional operational staff (to cover the overnight moves) and also for staff to assist with the preparation of the train for passengers (although IIRC this was advertised through the SVR, but not an SVR position).

Of course, the adverts don't necessarily translate to staff being hired.

The new owner has announced that the set will go to Carnforth for a winter overhaul after completion of the present series of charters.

Will it return after the overhaul and still be based at Kidderminster?

Another question, will a DRS loco take the set up there or a West Coast loco come down to collect it?

Mrs D came back from Yorkshire with this newspaper for me. I managed to find it on the internet and it adds some detail about what is going on with the Pullman train. The article can be found on this hyperlink http://www.examiner.co.uk/news/huddersfield-businessman-bought-train-13889254

Interesting, especially - "bringing maintenance in-house will reduce operating costs". Although it also says -"the company would retain Northern Belle’s existing staff" which would be a bit difficult if the train is based up north and some staff are local to Kidderminster area. Time will tell what happens.

An NB employee on FB stated that only two on-train staff are based at Kidderminster, with most being based in the north ("Crewe onwards"). There was also mention by someone else that the plan was to continue with "business as usual" at Kidderminster for the forseeable future.
