In the newspaper it reports that two Chiltern class 121 DMUs are to be retired next month and put up for sale.
Here is the information -

They would ge very useful on the SVR? I wonder where they will end up?

given that the five car DMU is regularly used in service I'm not sure apart from a Historical attachment how useful they would be

I've never seen our five car DMU full. I think if we ever needed another DMU, it would be easier to split that one in to a three car and a two car set.

Dear All, I can see the points being made but it could be argued this may be a once in a lifetime opportunity? If missed will the situation be regretted?

Am I right in thinking the SVR was originally a steam only affair? Now the DMU is seen as a definite part of the railway.

So I wonder if these class 121's will end up going to a good home or end up on he scrapheap?

I agree they should be saved rather than scrapped, I just think there's many other heritage railways that would have a greater need for a single car DMU.
Perhaps, one day, they will visit for a Diesel Gala.

Seem to remember some years ago, Chiltern said we could possibly have one when they had finished with them.

There is a nice farewell piece on this web page link.

Also a hint that they may turn up on a heritage line?
