57306 & 57307 arrived from Crewe this evening. I think it's 68002 & 68017 on the returning ecs from Swindon.

Looks like the 68s took the 88 back to Crewe, leaving the 57s to work the Belle move Tuesday morning.

57306 and 57307 were away in the early hours with the Belle ecs heading to Manchester, but may have been cancelled at Crewe due to "concert incident" in Manchester?

As mentioned in another topic, 57307 & 57306 returned today with the empty stock from York. I filmed it at Stourbridge and I bet the driver of the DMU chuckled to himself as he "bowled" my shot. No real problem as I've filmed the train loads of times, just annoying as that was the DMU I wanted to catch to get home!!!

No loco movements showing so it will probably be the same 2 locos heading the stock to Brum International in the early hours for another day out, back in the early hours of Saturday. Looks like the destination includes Newcastle and finally Alnmouth.

EDIT - same 2 locos on the return journey and as I type this they are 6 minutes early at Smethwick West Junction, then due to return to Crewe after leaving the stock at Kidderminster. The move to Crewe appears to have been cancelled.

57306 and 57307 were away in the early hours with the Belle ecs to Liverpool for a trip to Bristol, running via Leamington.

It's probably not quite in the right place, but the training run on the SVR this week with top and tailed 57s on the hired in Mark 2s has trained some SVR drivers on the Class, to allow them to move the 57s if they have to.

Picked up from Facebook posts this week.

Patrick's post spurred me on to edit my videos from the 31st when the 57s departed on one of the runs to Bridgnorth. I was unfortunate to get "bowled" as the train departed!! Oh, and I obviously didn't get it from Facebook - so thanks to Patrick!!!!

Does the Northern Belle train ever take time out and have a sort of 'close season', like fishing and football, or is it an all year round operation? I am guessing both the train itself and the staff need time to recuperate?

I'm not sure why recuperation time would be needed for a commercial enterprise with paid staff that usually only operates 2 days out of 7, especially given that redundant locomotives and rolling stock exist (we've got at least one spare coach at Kidderminster.

You can browse their advertised excursions to determine whether any season appears less busy: https://www.belmond.com/northern-belle-train/search-results
