I filmed the train arriving at Kidderminster today, only noticing the headboard when I viewed the video at home. A search on the internet gave me a clue as to who Steve was and his connection with the Railway.[img][/img]

It was very good to say goodbye to Steve the way we did. Like me he was a very committed volunteer in the 70s and 80s like me. The SVR have been good enough to make some effort to acknowledge such and the people involved in making it happen should be congratulated.

We were all set to use 43106 on the train, as it was a loco that Steve worked on many times, but unfortunately it failed its post-washout steam test -- some welding required round a mudhole door - so we had 2857 instead. All seemed to go well though - commemorated by his family and a fair number of his friends from the 70s and 80s. And the wake at the Old Castle afterwards, attended by everyone except me, as I had to continue driving the train for the day!
