According to the Shropshire Star, the footbridge between Bridgnorth station and High Town has been closed due to the station end lifting. It is hoped to make a temporary repair. It is hoped to make a temporary repair before the start of the running season.

Article: https://www.shropshirestar.com/news/local-hubs/bridgnorth/2018/01/19/bridge-was-closed-after-end-was-discovered-hanging-dangerously-in-mid-air/

From the article I assume the council is responsible for funding the repair and not the railway.

Peter.

This weeks Bridgnorth Journal has a whole page article stating that the GWR footbridge on Brigdnorth station has come adrift from the bolts holding it. It has pictures of the footbridge bridge on the station.

Other articles seem to indicate it is the council owned footbridge from the station over Jewsons to the road......

Which one is correct as it isn't great publicity for the railway

As you say, all other evidence clearly indicates it is the suspension bridge across to high town, owned by the council. Sounds as if the journalistic abilities of the Bridgnorth Journal are rather questionable...

It is most definitely not the SVR footbridge over the railway. Someone at the local rag has not done their research properly.

The failure sounds as if it may be expensive to fix. I hope the cash strapped council has some money to fix it.
