Just seen the following from Dewi Jones on Floodline 16:

Tuesday 17th July
GWR Inspection Saloon 80975 is being removed from SVR by road.(Those of you who know me canít
imagine how big my smile is!)

Can anyone explain the significance of the comment in brackets?

Where is it going?

When it originally arrived, it was found to need far more work than had been expected to make it of use, and it has never run on the railway; it was just taking up track space without any benefit to the railway.

It has been moved from the area in the yard where the diesels live, and is now outside the carriage works [near the signalbox] awaiting removal.

I am told it's going to Old Oak Common.

No, its the "Riviera" Saloon. Its been under a taupaulin in Kiddy Yard for several years due to the wildlife living within its wooden frame.

It is a vehicle for which no real work on SVR is envisaged and has been occupying track space. SVR track space is at a premium and everything has to have a justifiable reason for being on the Railway.

March Web lists this vehicle as an Inspection Saloon on the WSR

Is it an Inspection Saloon? and is it destined for the WSR?
