Thank you, Doune1965. We do our best. The plan is that when the SVR itself begins serious work later this year, much of the necessary dismantling will have been done, so allowing a faster turn-around.

Overhaul update posted on April 7, 2016

2968ís boiler has undergone Non-destructive testing using ultra sound and the same kind of gel that is used on pregnant women when they have a scan. The outcome of this process is data which the boiler shop management will use when they decide what work needs carrying out on the boiler.

2968's boiler was admitted to the boiler shop yesterday, allowing the SVR full time staff to begin work. It is anticipated that this will include the replacement of the front tubeplate, lower outer firebox sides, lower part (or possibly all) of the backplate.

Photos of the boiler in the shop, showing work on the firebox wrapper, the smokebox during removal and the boiler without it, and the superheater header and smokebox door on the ground.

Much has happened with 13268 since August. Take a look:

As the metamorphosis from 42968 to 13268 continues is it time to re-name this thread as "13268" or "13268 (42968)?

Not quite. It still says 42968 on the cab sides!

Much has happened to our engine over the past few weeks: the pony truck has been removed, the cylinders rebored and the new valve liners are about to be fitted. The cabsides have been removed during the last week.

See it all on our website: http://staniermogulfund.org.uk/?page_id=109
