Preserved diesels website comments that 50044 is a confirmed visitor to the East Lancs Diesel Event on July 2-4.

That is the plan, hopefully 50044 will have a pre-heater fitted whilst at the ELR to reduce smoke emissions when started from cold, and reduce engine wear/stress.

As a FF loco the livery is of course completely their choice. I just think as the body work has been converted back to original contition its a shame not to see the loco running in an authentic pre refurb condition. I was recently looking at my slides of 50044 at its first SVR gala and I just thought it looked fantastic.

My vote goes for nse livery. Not a diesel fan but living in near london remember them going passed my house in that livery (including ones based on svr)

Sorry chap, too busy repainting 50049 and preparing 50031 to be returned to the SVR in operational condition...

50044 may not be in the best of external condition, but it isn't the worst, so don't expect it to be painted for a while yet. PS Isn't green more in keeping with the SVR anyway?!

Damned if you do, damned if you don't....

Yep, of course the mechanical condition of 31 and 49 must take priority. Still thought 44 looked so good when it first ran in preservation though.

The paint on 44 still looks very tidy and it does fit in on preserved lines very well. As for black and orange Shocked Very Happy

Can't disagree, not a fan of the Loadhaul livery myself, but it draws mega-publicity, and probably brings a few more punters to the SVR to see/ride it.

Key point however is that the person who did 95% of the work to restore this loco (have a look inside some time it is a quality job) can legitimately pick the colour scheme in my view....

I see D444 was running between Kidderminster & Bewdley today, top & tailing 3 coaches with 37906.
