Apart from an awfully large crane, is there anything to stop Warwickshire going into the Engine House? As we have the facility we may as well use it!

My suspicion is because of the possible shortage of "space"?

There really is'nt space unless some other exhibits were displaced.

When 7714 (next one out) is removed its place will probably be taken by 5764 which is due to come out of service at the end of this year - and that is still with 2 others on static undercover display elsewhere (7819- Swindon;45110 - Barrow Hill).

Heard about the possibility of 5764 getting a 6 month extension, is this likely? Are there any overhaul plans for 5764?

Not quite sure when but it was a long while ago. As Warwickshire isn't such "a really useful engine" and in need of a new boiler it isnt top of the list for a repair.

I imagined space would be the limiting factor. Perhaps when it's a little less cramped in there (if that ever happens) it would be a viable possibility.

It would be nice to put it in in the future with the Lady A all nicely repainted, perhaps in Gordon's spot next to the pub scene - a little bit of SVR 1970s style!

Not a 'really useful engine' in terms of the SVR's requirements, although I daresay that there are several smaller, shorter length, heritage railways who'd consider her extremely useful.

I'm agreed that might be where Warwickshire might find a niche; as a travelling ambassador to some of the smaller lines in a broadly similar fashion to what 813 seems to do.

All it needs now is the funds, time and motivation to replace the boiler.

I saw Warwickshire the other week and noticed that after being stored outside for several years now, it is starting to rust and the paint is fading/flaking. Maybe only a cosmetic problem at the moment, but if this is allowed to go any further then it could lead to serious corrosion etc.

I'm not actually aware how the owning group is set up (membership, shares, website etc.). Are any members of the group on this forum, and, if so, could they say what the group's plans are?

has had its boiler and tank lifted on Friday 16th September 2011. This is the start of the long anticipated overhaul of this locomotive, which was an active early member of the Severn Valley Railway fleet. Work is going to initially focus on design and approval of a new boiler, this will replace the current boiler which is beyond economic repair
