Just wondering if any one can shed some light as to why the locos overhaul had been deferred?

Major problems with it??

You'll find some more info at http://forum.svra.org.uk/viewtopic.php?t=1252 rather than duplicating a thread.

I was at Bridgnorth on Tuesday morning and noticed that the siding where 75069 is stored was being cleared of rolling stock. Is this an indication that restoration might be iminent, or am I jumping to conclusions?
Or were the two bogies parked in front of the engine needed elsewhere?

From the MPD Closed Season Final edition (9th February):
Quote:
finally work is starting to recommence slowly on 75069, with the loco having been shunted into a more accessible position in the Shed Yard.

I did notice a few things on the worksheet when I went for a trip to the dark side (the MPD) last weekend.

Patrick

P.S. Thanks for the use of under cover space gents & lady, and for help lifting

She was steam cleaned in the yard yesterday, then shunted into the works by the 08

Patrick

P.S. Thanks for the use of under cover space in the MPD again yesterday, and for help lifting benches in and out

If you want to find out latest news on this, and other work on locos, you'll find it first on Twitter and Facebook. I know some of you don't like these, but the fact is that this is where it will appear first; some of us will put info on this forum, but don't blame us if we don't always get round to doing so.

see https://twitter.com/svrengineering/status/311440179745415168/photo/1 for a start!

Bridgnorth Station Facebook 12 March

Work has been started on 75069 again; current work is focusing on drilling doorplate stays out.

Seen in the works today. It looked as though the heads of some of the stays on the outer firebox side had been ground off. Presumably in preparation for some major surgery. Boiler still in the frames.

75069 and tender have since been split and placed in the shed, valves and pistons have been removed and the lower firebox side stays are being ground flush with the side sheets for drilling out and removal.

Patrick: I report what I see! I appreciate the information is already on the web, but not everyone scours every possible source for information. True there is a recent Bugle report, 14th April, but the last one was in January, so not everyone has the time to click round the many and diverse sources to see if there is an update.

Sorry, not being grumpy, just making a point, and I do know your answer....!!

( monthly web roundup...!)

regards

Rob

I must have spent most of yesterday following DERBY 4 around, but he is not being grumpy, I have better things to do rather than go on Twitter/facebook or spend searching the internet all day, what I need is a good site to go on and find out what's going on and this site is nearest to that.
