Work on the DMU is currently focused on mechanical repairs to car 51 941, new exhausters and an alternator has been refurbished, along with many minor adjustment to the Vacuum and Air systems. Seats are being re upholstered continuing the work from last winter. The former generator compartment has been removed, ready for a comprenhensive rebuild to be undertaken by Bewdley C&W when a slot becomes free.
Contract work has been undertaken by Bewdley C&W, inlcluding the annual door lock exam, and in 59250 the toilet has had new lino added to the floor pan, along with two new door skins to the bar doors (Recovered from the remains of 51935 at Butterly)
Hope to see you all for the first Evening Cruise on 7th May.....

DMU Car 51941 has now entered Bewdley C&W for extensive body work reapairs, roof repaint and re-modelling of the guards area back to it's original condition.
Re-upholstery has already been completed.
It will probably be the most extensive overhaul of any of our DMU cars since BR days!

I see from the DMU website that last Saturday a relay on 50933 failed and was declared a failure in the Rock Siding, and at short notice a class 20 diesel loco and coaching stock were used instead.

Unable to gain forward on 50933 reversing mechanism, fault caused by a faulty relay. We were unable to sucessfully isolate the transmisson so the train could not be moved (risk of gear box damage, and fluid fly wheel damage if the train is moved). The driver was also passed for the cl.20 so it seemed logical to use this to avoid a cancellation.
The fault was repaired in under an hour on Sunday morning.
Am suprised it took a week to appear on here !! Surprised

Just sorting some photos from last weekend, M51941 was looking very smart after several months in Bewdley C&W.

Couple of other photos of it in the daily album:-

My non-enthusiast beer buddies on their annual SVR outing were also impressed

The blog this time covers two weekends and many days of mid-week working. Much has been done, but as always it takes more time than expected.

The main work which is visual, is the corridor connections on 56208, a couple of images are on the groups Flickr site.

51941 is going to be out of action for a few months due to a damaged bearing in the brake rigging, this will require much work to resolve.

The first Scenic Evening Rail Cruise of the 2013 season will run on the 4th May.

I'm sure it's known but, in case not, Issue 122 at www.brcw.co.uk/TRA says for sale are Class 108 51942/54270 - Vehicles in un-restored but complete condition.

Woah! All I meant is:

I was reading the newsletter and saw 108s for sale. Knowing some of the SVR DMU group read this forum I highlighted it so they would be aware, just in case it was of interest to them for any reason (parts or whatever).

I should have been clearer - sorry to have caused any confusion
