This little blighter is causing some headaches amongst the members on Shunterspot. Really needs a push out into the open, me thinks !!

Re D3201 I've been asked to pass on the following:

I was aware that the restoration has made a significant progress over the last 6 months or so, so applauds all round for the guys who have got her to a servicable condition again.

Cheers

From John Robinson, SVR News:

[D3586s failure snipped]
Quote:
Unfortunately the poor old beast is a trifle past its sell-by date, and in need of more TLC than we [Bridgnorth] have time to deal with...Enter Trevor Davies from Kidderminster, who as a volunteer has done some fantastic work keeping these shunters going on a shoe string. The decision has, as I write, been more-or-less made to put one of the spare locos into working order, which by analysis is going to be the cheap option. Then Trev can work on 86 in a more casual manner in between keeping the others serviced and in traffic.

Anyone know what was decided and what's expected to replace her and when, please?

Thanks

Patrick

Her engine re-build is under way in the boiler shop at Bridgnorth and on 21 April three volunteers were working, with 5 out of 6 of her cylinder heads off (Bridgnorth Station Twitter)

Latest plan is for Ruston D2961 to move from Kidder to Bridgnorth to cover for a couple of weeks, It's not fully restored yet, but is in a condition where it would be able to be used. Then return to Kidder for job to be finished.

Ruston D2961 is moving from Kidder to Bridgnorth tomorrow, Sat 5th Jan. It will be used in particular as the Boiler Works shunter.

Are the movement timings known yet? Bridgnorth signalman will find it useful to know, if they are.

Dunno timings -- had an email today telling me about the move, but haven't seen a WTT with this on -- I'll be at Bridgnorth tomorrow anyway, but I'd also like to know, if only coz I happen to own it!

Having it at BH will be useful in that the 08 will need to be "borrowed" from time to time while its cab doors and jambs are replaced with the new ones.

It's on the WTT up in Bridgnorth box that was sent up today.

No, here is a photo of D2961, seen at Highley before continuing the journey to Bridgnorth.

Oliver - Silver Spoon is D2960 and is usually to be seen around Kidderminster C&W works (Pickford Building). D2961 has only recently been restored.[/quote]

Oh right, I wondered where it had come from. From looking at the picture it looks rather smart.
Thankyou both for the replies. Smile
