"A brand new event for 2012.

Bridgnorth station gets 'all steamed up' this weekend with a miniature railway, traction engines, stationary steam engines, model railways and even a velocipede! Whats this? Come along and see!"

That looks like an event full of potential for Fathers' Day weekend.

Will the velocipede be offering rides?

We tried in 2011 in Hollybush Road siding but it bucketed down!

Was surely the wetest day of 2011 and I think only one person (my dad!) had a go all day. Very unlucky considering all of the dry weather we have had this year.

Also, the velocipede was running within station limits earlier this year and a surprising amount of speed could be built up when going down through platform 2...!

While not exceeding the 10mph speed restriction within the station limits obviously....

Ofcourse Laughing Just had to make sure you held on for the un even track underneath the footbridge - especially if sitting on the back!

This is not the first station gala, it's just the first one to actually feature in the printed timetable brochure. This will be our third, as the first was in the flood year, and the second was last year.

Anyway, as it's an important anniversary we are having Bridgnorth 150 with the events listed plus more still to be organised. All ideas, suggestions, offers of help, etc etc are hugely welcome.

Please email mailbox@bridgnorthstation.co.uk

The gala is this weekend and it doesn`t look like we will suffer from sunstroke. Laughing

The 82045 Sales stand will be in the marquee - please come and say hello and support Bridgnorth`s own new locomotive.

See you there!

Regretfully the weather forecast has resulted in the withdrawal of the velocipede by its custodians.

Plenty of attractions will be available for all the family - check out http://www.bridgnorthstation.co.uk/events.html

We really hope to have lots of visitors.. and that the weather won't be too awful!

The latest "Heritage Railway" mag has a full page advert for this event, which includes "diesel shuttles on part of the Stourport-Tenbury Wells Branch". Is this P-Way's secret project...? Wink

That's a shame, I really wanted to have a gander at one of these - I'd love to have a go on one! Has anyone ever made a replica?

Surely that's "the track between the two Bewdley boxes"? It's technically true!

My take on this, and I will no doubt be told if I have got it wrong, is that Stourport to Bewdley is part of the original SVR from Hartlebury to Sutton Bridge Jcn., Shrewsbury. There were two branches from Bewdley, the first through Wyre Forest to Tenbury and Woofferton, the second from Bewdley to Kidderminster, part of our current 'main line'. Hope that's right!
