I know it's still a bit off but the SVR website (Special Events section) reports that the LNWR Coal tank 7799 is attending.

Hmm. I can never get excited about locos that far in advance. After all, there is still doubt about more than one of the visitors for this month's Gala.

It will be interesting to see how the T9 copes after it was found to be a bit light on its feet on the MHR in the early 90s...does anyone know if it has rear sanders?

Very true, and last years gala is a good example since out of the original line up of 4 loco's announced quite early on, 2 failed to appear (6023 and 5029).

And even then, 60163 was only at the ASG because it couldn't make it for Easter.

Yes we were lucky to have that really. 60163 is always welcome though! Smile

69023 is also unwell, I believe. Unsure how bad, though.

Oh right, will have to wait and see then. As long as 4492 makes it i'm sure the event will be a success anyway.

Just had a look at my photos of it at Bodmin, can see sanders for forward direction only. It manages 3 coaches on the gradients down there, but running backwards is always down hill

A similar situation existed with 9017 where the rear sanders (on the tender for this type) had been removed. Whilst this is not an issue N Bound from Sheffield Park, our own line is a little more undulating & this limited the acceptable load to 5(?) coaches which was on the limit departing HY n/b tender first.
