Could I ask what the weather is like either end of the line? Both motorways from the north blocked so today is looking like the first Friday of a spring gala I will have missed in years Sad

Cheers

Thanks Tigger,

I'm going to monitor through the day and look at coming tomorrow, Sunday could be fabulous conditions, but I have a feeling tomorrow will just be hard work as well. Good luck to all the hardy volunteers working on the railway today, we salute you!

Cheers

Duncan

I got a nice blast of frozen rain in my face whilst out on line walking this morning across Worcester Road Bridge! brrr

I think the forecast is for more of the white stuff tonight giving some accumulations further south than last nights effort.

34007 worked its afternoon diagram. Very impressed when it left KD tender first and did not slip even though conditions were awful. Rain sleet and wind.

Planning on making the trip up from London area tomorrow for the day. What are the roads like in Kidderminster / Bewdley area. Weather forecast down here is mainly rain but saying midlands for snow? A local weather report would be much appeciated. Thank you in advance.

Currently, as far as I'm aware they are fine with the snow not sticking (thank god). What the morning brings might be different but it looks ok at the moment.

Have a look at the above site. You can view motorway cameras to see road conditions, also roadside message signs, adverse weather information etc.

3 or 4 inches of snow around Redditch - 16 miles from Kidderminster. Still snowing.

It appears the snow has moved south. Stratford-u-Avon has 2 inches and is sticking and still snowing. TV reports M42 at junc Mtoll blocked both ways. Big T may have a problem negotiating south midlands even if Kidder itself remains clear

Lots of snow here in Bridgnorth - a good 10cm, and it is still snowing heavy - can't comment on road conditions as I haven't yet been out. Not what the SVR needs at all...

It's bitterly frustrating; after all the effort, planning and expenditure for this to happen.

Saturday 08.40am

There has been a small fall of snow in the Severn Valley overnight.

Weather - Despite the unseasonal weather conditions we do plan to operate a full service today.

Tickets - If you already have tickets for today, Saturday 23rd March, and decide for safety reasons not to travel to the SVR, these tickets will be valid for the Spring Steam Gala on Sunday 24th March.

A further statement concerning unused Spring Steam Gala tickets will be available here on Monday.

Please check back here regularly for further information.
