It's mentioned on FB that prior to the shed being built the weather outside would have been enough to have stopped work

Hi

FYi for anyone interested, on Facebook the "Severn Valley Diesels Official Group" have posted in the "Recent Group Photos" section (on right of screen) several aerial photos of the diesel depot.

As the Diesel Depot was open today, I dropped my couple of coins in the bucket and had a look round. Very smart and spacious. Here's to a large operational fleet of diesel locos in the years to come.

A 3 minute video:-

Just out of curiosity has the final connection to the yard from the shed been put in? I think it was the track nearest the running lines, opposite end to the turntable.

Thanks.

Further to the question from Derby 4, as shown in the aerial photo in the link below (apparently taken at or just before the Diesel Gala), the road in the diesel shed closest to the running line is only connected at the turntable end.

I have come across a donation request form from the Charitable Trust to fund a workshop facility at the new depot.

Here is the link (I think !).

What is known about the workshop plans?

Regards
Reg.

Correct. This was to have been addressed by our friends in the Pway department during the summer, but other more pressing issues kept them away. It remains on their "to do" list.

Patrick,

Thank you for the response.
My assumption is a new workshop building will put up in the yard somewhere.

Perhaps a rail-mounted workshop, if a suitable vehicle could be found?

I've asked a question as to where at Kidderminster is it planned to erect the purpose-built workshop and amenity and overnight accommodation block for which the CTL is currently appealing for funds

(It's in the Member's Question Time [Private forum])

Early plans had it replacing some of the ISO containers that remain in the yard. I'm not sure if that is still the plan.

The containers do look a bit of an eyesore.

Silly question, but would it be possible to convert the brick building at the entry to the yard into the amenity and accommodation block? It has been there for a long time and has always been boarded up, but maybe a substantial structure. Otherwise if derelict why not demolish ?
