One for Paul

Me and others have been for a while adding links to SVR related social media sites on http://forum.svra.org.uk/viewtopic.php?t=2559&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=45

If you think it appropriate, should they be moved here or the threads merged?

Cheers

Patrick

Hi Patrick, as discussed.

It starts to get complicated running two similar titled but standalone topics. I have locked the other one you have referenced and suggest we use this one going forwards.

The 813 Preservation Fund has a new Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/GWR-813-Preservation-Fund-165087113903573/
I'll try to keep it updated with 813 Fund wagon restoration pictures as, unlike the unofficial SVR page, it's public, so anyone can see it.

Might be an idea to indicate which of those links require a log in. It would then save people like me getting......

"You must log in to continue."

Suppose the simple answer is join Facebook, but I won't.

Bet a lot of people are hoping Facebook doesn't go the same way as Fotopic?

Don't use FB myself, but as I understand it FB has both pages (facebook.com/xyz) and groups (facebook.com/groups/xyz). Pages are always public, groups may be public or closed depending on how they have been set up.

The list on the SVR Wiki Links page shows which ones are public and which closed.

The Great Western (SVR) Association on Facebook. Another closed group, so Facebook log in and group membership required to view it.

I didn't realise that you needed to be logged on to Facebook to be able to see a public group. I thought "Public" meant public.
To make the Wagon Department more accessible, I have now created a Facebook Page instead, which is visible to anyone.
