Seen arriving at & departing from Arley:-

(Or should I say "arriving into" as they say on main line trains)

Nice video sharpo. On one engine 55019 only gets away slowly, I wonder if it requires a banker?...steam, of course.... Wink

That's one of those little things that irritates me every time I hear it!

Thanks. Perhaps the driver was new to the loco & should've let the clutch out further? Oh, that was a joke, I ain't that stupid - it's an automatic. (Must be in a silly mood today)

from the signal stop their might have been dragging brakes. Steam ejectors seem to create a brake faster than the electric motor driven exhausters. At least it feels like they do

I saw her at Bewdley. I've forgotten what fantastic locos they were. The ground vibrating under my feet.

I've read on another forum that the first public running of 55019 has been cancelled on Saturday and replaced by 50026, is that the case? If so the SVR should publicise that as soon as possible as I know quite a few Deltic fans were planning on coming over on the Saturday as it has been publicised for some time that this was the first public runs.

The "diesel dates" on the SVR website and the internal website's traffic notice both show Class 50 now.

One engine is more than enough for anything you wish to throw at it on the SVR.

You should also bear in mind that the locomotive is being driven by a driver experience course attendee at this point.

As many of you will be aware, both D9009 and 55019 require an oil change and the Society is working with suppliers and heritage rail operators to ensure that the matter is brought to a swift conclusion and minimum disruption is caused to the season’s operating programme.

At the Severn Valley Railway, the footplate experience with 55019 on June 16th has been rescheduled to take place on August 21st. On a more positive note, additional running days will take place on Saturday July 12th and Saturday August 30th when the loco will operate the Timetable ‘C’ diesel diagram. Watch this space for more details regarding September workings.

Recent news from http://thedps.co.uk/

Quote:
It is planned that 55019 ‘ROYAL HIGHLAND FUSILIER’ will carry a wreath in memory of Martin Harris, former VLO for the loco, who sadly passed away last month. He was heavily involved in the loco, which was his favourite Deltic, for many years streching back to the days on the NYMR.

An additional running day will take place on Saturday 30th August when the loco is now rostered to work two round trips on the usual diesel turn, ie 09.55 Kidderminster-Bridgnorth, 11.55 Bridgnorth-Kidderminster, 13.30 Kidderminster-Bridgnorth, 15.40 Bridgnorth-Kidderminster..

Quote:
In addition, there will be a cleaning party at the Severn Valley Railway on Saturday 23rd August in advance of 55019 operating two days later. Willing helpers (with plenty of rags!) should again contact Mike Hallam-Rudd.

Quote:
The Severn Valley Railway’s Diesel Gala, which takes place on Thursday 2nd October-Saturday 4th October, will feature D9009 ‘ALYCIDON’ as well as 55019 ‘ROYAL HIGHLAND FUSILIER’ which has been visiting the line for the season. D9009 will move from the East Lancashire Railway after the gala there on 27th/28th September, and will return to the ELR with 55019 in tow in time for the East Coast weekend on 11th/12th October.

55019 failed on the first return service from Bridgnorth. Second return trip taken by 50026.
