It stopped at Bewdley today. I was told there was a lubricator problem, which I have read via Facebook as well.

It was soon on its way again.

Looks very smart, pity I missed it. Still, only 4 weeks to the Gala.

Sign Writing has been finished.....many thanks
Andy Williams.........and many thanks to the SVR MPD painters for varnishing the locomotive......Mr Williams being some what under the weather.
Big thank you to the Massey Brothers for painting 813 under difficult conditions at Kidderminster Carriage Works!

Might show her face sometimes this weekend looking smart and polished.

Many thanks to all our supporters!

The locomotive received many compliments during the three days of the Gala!
In my very biased opinion 813 was Star of the weekend.

I was surprised it could pull 4 coaches. It's gone up in my estimation, 813 may be small but it's got some umph !

Thank you!
The Fund restricts the locomotive to four coaches, depending on gradients.
Perhaps others might be better placed to say how many the locomotive could pull on the level.

Is it permitted to haul more than four of the lighter/shorter LMS/LNER/GW or is it an overall four?

Thanks

Hmm, that means that potentially it could be used on 5 LMS coaches. IIRC all but one of them weigh 30t with that exception being 31t.

The death of Paul Johnson on Saturday has be announced on FB.
I think a lot of people knew Paul on the SVR and his great interest in GWR 813.

RIP Paul.

Sad news. I knew Paul many years ago at Bewdley. Quite a character. He was married once but he never spoke about his wife for a good number of years, nor did I find out how old he was. RIP Paul.

John Hawley.

My earliest memory of Paul was seeing him in the smokebox of, I think, the jinty, hammering out tubes.
When he got married he moved to Bilston, not far from where I lived, but when his marriage broke up he lived in Bewdley for many years, in a flat on the river bank. From then on he got almost fanatically involved in 813 and it was pleasing to know that he got a ride behind her in her test runs, and was able to know she had returned to full passenger traffic before his passing.

His knowledge of the railway system of Bilston Steel Works was his second love and I believe he had input in a book in preparation on that subject.

Paul's support and character will be sadly missed.
