I note the reference on another thread about the movement of 9654 to Kidderminster. I saw this in an attractive(?) shade of blue at Bewdley over the New Year.

Can anyone give an update on the progress of this overhaul? When are we likely to see the pairing together again? Finally, is 9653 still a NRM owned vehicle, with 9654 SVR(H) owned?

According to the NRM it is - http://www.nrm.org.uk/OurCollection/LocomotivesAndRollingStock/CollectionItem.aspx?objid=1982-7000&cat=carriages&comp=All&ipp=96

This was brought into Bewdley for two jobs. One was to put some parts which were in the stores and had been repaired back on the coach as we needed the space in the stores and the other was to do a protective coat on the body.

To complete it needs new upholstery and a bogie overhaul. We would greatly like to finish it if money is allocated in the budget for the re-upholstery but sadly so far that has not happened. Hopefully it may be found soon as it is not far from complete.

9654 was sat on Sandbourne Viaduct today (unless we've acquired another blue coach!). Any news on where it's going and why?

650 will leave the paintshop on Thursday and be replaced by 6562. 650 and 1257 are both finished and will go to Kidderminster. 9654 will be outside at Bewdley to be progressed towards finishing although the priority will be 6562.

70759 will also go to Kidderminster soon and 6045 will take its place so the GW(SVR)A will be able to work both sides of the composite.

I travelled on the Diner on 10th July, seated in coach 9653.

The north end bogie has a quite pronounced flat on one of the wheelsets on the bogie.

the flat on 9653 is known about but it is not yet serious enough to warrant fixing.

9654 should enter Bewdley painshop next week for finishing off.
