Just guessing, but I wonder if obtaining a certificate to run on NR requires a sustained run at a decent speed, which would probably not be sufficient with just running between KDR and Bewdley, which the Met tank did.

The locos from Tyseley usually have a light engine run towards Stratford, then maybe a loaded test run later in the day as part of their certification - at least that is how it seems to me as a casual observer. Perhaps others who know more can clarify?

Before that main line test they don't get much running up & down the track at Tyseley. At least the SVR can provide a longer length of run, and they had experience of main line running in the earlier days with the Pig, 80079, 2857, 4930 etc. etc.

Looking back over the last five ASGs, the timetable has only once come out before the start of September as far as I can tell - take from that what you will!

A third guest is likely to be announced on Tuesday, all being well, and is planned to be a locomotive that has a large place in the hearts of the SVR family - per SVR Facebook.

(I don't know what it is, in case you think I'm being coy!)

Decent choice I suppose, but would have preferred Ratbag to either this or the other two.

As Matt has already indicated, HR's fb is reporting 46512 as the final visitor.

Not 46521?

EDIT. Think it was a typo. Just checked on SVR website.

46512 would have brought in more visitors than 46521 I think. Both ex ressidents too Very Happy Was hoping for Ratbag but still a good line up.

I would say more 'in transit' rather than 'resident'. Wink
