Patrick,

I can provide a Kidderminster Carriage Works update if you set up a thread.

Currently working on 25771 major bodywork overhaul and 35219 now wheelsets to replace the ones with bad flats.

The shunters truck is now fully overhauled and looks great.

Ask and it shall be granted Smile

Thanks for this Mick, I look forward to seeing more!

For those interested, 35219 is a Charitable Trust vehicle http://svrtrust.org.uk/our-vehicles/br/35219-2.html

25771 is a 75069 Fund vehicle, according to the SVR Stock Book 9th edition (1998). Also on SVR Wiki http://www.svrwiki.com/BR_25771_Corridor_Second

On the mechanical side the wheel set change on 35219 is complete. 27220 has come into the shop for attention to a loose horn guide. The oil seals will also be renewed as there are clear signs of leaking.

On 25771 welding is complete and painting and stopping is the order of the day.

27220 is back out and 1853 has entered for attention to two areas.

The first is the gangways which are drooping due to the wear to the support pin rubbers. These expensive bushes will be replaced and removing the pins is a challenge.

The second job is to replace a broken coil spring for which we do not have any spares some we are getting one made.

25771 is in undercoat on one side and receiving filler on the other.

Which set is 25771 destined for?

25771 is going into Maroon if that helps!

1853 is temporarily back in the Carriage Shed waiting for the new spring to arrive.

24105 is now in Pickfords where it is having two new bolster springs and attention to a vacuum leak.

Reading the latest LNER coach fund newsletter (no. 44), I would suggest that 25771 is going to be used to strengthen the teak set while the remained of the overhauls are carried out

24105 has been completed. 1853 is back in the works to have the second corridor connection repaired and re-bushed.

The new coil spring is still waiting delivery.

25771 is now in maroon undercoat.

Yes it is just a protective coat.

We are waiting for approval to a budget to renew the upholstery and then work can recommence to finish off 9654.

Another update. Since I last reported 650 has been in the mechanical side and has been completed with its new bogies and batteries and dynamo.

25771 is now ready to come out of the paint shop and will have some mechanical attention before going into traffic.

Following 650 2701 came in for replacement of a bolster spring and 1853 is back in for its new coil spring.

Much work has gone into collecting a set of LNER wheels to go for their final tyre turning next year. A set of spare MK1 coil springs has also been prepared for use. 1853's wheelsets will need attention soon.

25771 is now out of the paint shop and is ready for a mechanical check over.

It has been replaced in the paint shop by 7511 which is having a re-varnish and light repairs.

In the mechanical side 3 LMS coaches are being checked after a "bump" starting with 24617 then 149 and 26880.

1853 now has its new spring and adjusted heights but its wheelsets will need attention quite soon.
