Whilst not the gala as such,

Quote:
Sunday 22nd May will also see the 4TC Unit operating with a number of the visiting diesel locomotives on shuttles between Kidderminster and Highley, and Kidderminster and Bewdley throughout the day.

Yes, mentioned in one of those topics that "got lost".

The visiting GBRf Class 66 for our Spring Diesel Festival will be No. 66763. The mainline locomotive, which has never hauled a passenger service, will be one of the star attractions at the event and will be named 'Severn Valley Railway' at the Diesel Depot opening ceremony.

On the Nat Pres wagons thread Olly has mentioned the reason that wagons have moved from Number 1 siding at BY to HY is so that the Rudds can stretch their legs on diesel gala.

Re : Goods wagons at Highley

the first wagon on the set is right upto the foot crossing...it is in a dangerous position....working on platform we cannot see the far side of crossing next to No 2 siding...the buffers are right on the edge of the crossing.......passengers also have to walk out pass the wagons in order to see up trains...........

Complaints have been sent in to various folks about it from Highley but as usual....does anyone care..???????????????????

we have Peppa and her pig this sunday with thousands of punters booked with lots of young children and heaps of pushchairs that need to use crossing....could someone with a diesel please shunt them back a bit...it might block the points at the north end of No 2 siding but the siding cannot be used anyway because there is a wagon set in the way................

If you haven't already, I'd suggest sending an email to the SVR's safety officer pointing it out and asking whether they think the positioning is acceptable.

We have one final Spring Diesel Festival surprise!

Class 73s No. 73951 & 73952 will be making a special appearance courtesy of Network Rail, completing the lineup for the event.

Their visit to the Railway will see the locomotives haul passenger trains for the first, and perhaps only time in their working lives.

Plus, the timetable with locomotive allocations will be available very soon.

With 14 visiting locomotives, this must be the biggest diesel event of the year, if not ever?!

Adding up visitors and home fleet, there will be about 21 working locos. Then checking the timetable there are a similar number of departures from Kidderminster, including the Bewdley shuttles. It looks to be a very challenging day for somebody trying to travel behind every loco - will that be possible?

If there is going to be a timetable with loco allocations I'm sure it will cause a lot of head scratching to work out a plan of action - or won't all the locos work every day?

Would it not have been possible to have a Highley to Arley shuttle during part of the day, or something similar as has been done in previous galas?

I forwarded this to the Ops manager, and he informs me that arrangements have been made to have the wagons moved on Friday!

Thanks for that, I had looked on the event page (http://svr.co.uk/SEItem.aspx?a=101) but there was no link for the allocations.
