Colour of print on page!

There is so much now on SVRLive that I can't keep up with it all. This morning I had a look at the Arley section and found the pale green text on the dark sections of the image in the background made it difficult to read.

Does anybody else have that problem?

It would be much easier if the background under the text had more of a contrast to the colour of the text, as in those 6 boxes at the bottom of the page.

On the new website, would it be possible to make the background to the text less transparent on some pages (e.g. Link)? The train in the background image sits right behind the writing on my screen, and is quite distracting when trying to read.

Regrettably this fix and development work stopped as the person concerned became involved in another, more urgent, matter which is still unfinished. The window we had to do the work has also now closed as both the other helper and I have academic deadlines until mid-May.

I understand, looks like we're stuck with it as it is for now.

Feedback for your feedback page! The "k" in "Feedback" at the top is split onto a separate line for me: http://www.svrlive.com/feedback

Aha, nor does it do so on my home computer, which is odd, given that the screen I tried it on was wider...

What was strange was that "Feedback" wasn't taking up anywhere near the full amount of space available - it could easily have put the "k" on the same line. Is it somehow restricted to the width of the first column of text?

Patrick - the Carriage updates have a news item dated 23rd February. Are you now employing a clairvoyant? Smile

"Diesel Shed Update Apeal" goes to Erlestoke Manor Fund page.

The top half of that item is correct, but the link from the text quoted above is incorrect on http://www.svrlive.com/news

The thumbnail picture on the news item shows a class 20 and there is still a picture of a class 20 on the locos.

You say that as if there's some reason you expect Patrick not to have the class 20s there, but there's been no official announcement to that effect - in fact, the SVR seems to expect them to run diesel services later this year!

(Yes, yes, I know there's rumours, but I doubt SVR websites will be changed based just on those...)

I notice the links I referred to earlier have been corrected, but one thing I find confusing is if you hover the cursor over "Spring Steam Gala 2017" you see"http://www.svrlive.com/copy-of-news-311016-2-diesel-gala-2" but actually get the page you want to see, which is the Steam Gala page.

Sounds confusing and is confusing, try it and you'll see what I mean.

The Sir Keith Park one gets the right page but the url is "http://www.svrlive.com/copy-of-news-180916-1-smf-3" which would make you think it was relating to 7812.

They aren't mission critical, but there are a few odd URLs which could really do with a tidy up; other examples include Eardington under http://www.svrlive.com/copy-of-bridgnorth-station-1 and Kidderminster Railway Museum under http://www.svrlive.com/copy-of-bridgnorth-station-2

I'm at a loss on some of these. When Sharpo reported errors in links I rechecked them and they worked. Sharpo says they're now fixed, but I didn't change them. I don't get the links when I hover the cursor, as Sharpo describes. From various reports it seems to me this Wix site displays and behaves differently on users' different systems.

The class 20s are in use, rostered for use and there is no announcement to the contrary either by the SVR or owner.

The URLs and how one would change them are a mystery to me

The site is on limited resource now until mid-May due to other commitments.

Patrick
