As I can't see another thread, I thought I might as well start one.

The Christmas leaflet has been out for a week or so and bookings start in 3 weeks time.
I note that, as well as having different prices for each weekend, the final 2 trains each day (except Christmas eve) are at a reduced price, presumably to encourage people to use these.

There's 2 carol trains this year rather than 3 last year. And the timetable for the festive service is broadly the same as last year's, except that the final down crosses the up at Arley rather than Hampton.

To put this into context, this is 26% of the total available, and 3000 ahead of the same point last year!

The roster has now gone up at Bridgnorth and no doubt at Arley. All the nutting is already filled as is most of the shunter turns.

we still need lots of people
Present deliverers
Pushchairs
people movers

and of course the main man himself

Christmas must be getting closer, the Grotto stock is now at Arley.

D8059 brought the stock from Kidderminster on Sunday, as seen in this 14 minute video:-

The loco then went off to Highley to collect the tank wagons, that will be in another video

Santa bookings still looking good.
Sold 42% of seats by mid-morning today.
Last year at the same stage, 10th Oct, the 4th Friday of sales, it was 31%. in fact that figure was for late afternoon, so this year probably a bit better still!

Which compares to "As of now, 17 limited availability and 9 full" on 24/10 last year, and even ahead of "21 Full and 15 Limited availability" on 02/11!

On Friday afternoon, the figure was 19,499 tickets sold, which compares with the 2014 figure of 15,418 at the same point. Capacity is 32425, so we are already over 60% sold.

Friday afternoon's figure was 22135 for S/s & S/H. 68% sold.
Last week's sales a little below same week last year, but total still well ahead. Next 2 weeks are historically the busiest for bookings, so interesting to see the next figures.
Decorations in the tent at Arley now well advanced; I spent this afternoon non-too-successfully wrapping tinsel round one of the decorative lights!
