Trains about 20 late now. Haven't seen another photographer for ages, probably got more sense and in the warm somewhere!

The DMU in the dark - turned out surprisingly well, considering it was nearly 16.15. Probably my most interesting video clip of the day, I could hardly see the train in the dark but the display on the camcorder showed it quite clearly. Have a quick look:-

A few weeks ago, I posted a copy of Diane Malyon's request for help with the Santa operation, particularly at Arley. I spent last Saturday helping to look after the buggy park at Arley [which actually requires 3 or 4 people], and I asked her if she had received any response as a result of this post. Apparently she hadn't. She is worried that on several days, including in particular next Saturday, we don't have enough people to cover all the jobs properly.
It really is a labour-intensive operation, and it really would be good if some of you, including those who obviously have the time to come to the railway to take photos, would come and help instead if only for one day; you might actually find you enjoy it!
People have posted here that it would be a good idea to run Santa on the last weekend of November as well, which I tend to agree with to some extent, but without more people coming to help, this would be very difficult. Some people work every day over Santa, and would be reluctant to have to work another 1 or 2 days, while others only work 1 or 2 anyway; if we had more '1 or 2 days' people, it would be a big help-- and if they found they could do more, then so much the better.

Anyway, please see if you have got time to help -- if you have, let Di know -- as she said, "A day of Santa steam is challenging but very, very rewarding. If you think that you would like to join our team, please contact me at diane.malyon@svrlive.com or phone 01746 766130."

Hi Pete,

Your original request is still there in the General forum.
Ref http://forum.svra.org.uk/viewtopic.php?t=3540

I will put a sticky on it so it remains current.

For those who want to impress any young children with their inside knowledge of Santa's movements, his sleigh will be visible as a bright white dot travelling from SSW to S at 5:20pm today, although with the present cloud and a maximum elevation of only 15, this is not a very good year for spotting him.
