Royal Scot joins Tornado . . .
We are thrilled to announce that world famous locomotive No. 46100 Royal Scot will be operating on selected days during October!

Here at the Severn Valley Railway, we really do know how to celebrate in style: as an extra special treat in our Golden Jubilee year, you will be able to ride behind and see No. 46100 Royal Scot again on October 17th, 18th, 24th & 25th.

Having arrived on the Severn Valley in early September and starred at our recent Gala, Royal Scot will continue to clock up the miles ahead of its return to the mainline.

With this fantastic news, October at the Severn Valley Railway is a must. Not only will Royal Scot be in steam, but we also have Tornado in operation on October 10th & 11th, and then alongside Royal Scot on October 17th, 18th, 24th & 25th.

Departure times on these dates for Royal Scot will be confirmed shortly.

This is your chance to take a ride behind these iconic and world famous locomotives!

Advance booking is NOT required to travel with Royal Scot or Tornado on their public services, and normal 'Freedom of the Line' fares apply.

Not attempting to answer the above question, I note her inaugural mainline tour is on 6 February 2016.

As a completely uneducated guess, I'd say no, given the current SVR motive power situation (6 serviceable large locomotives), and the cost per day of using Royal Scot.

I suspect these may be the times for something to come and fetch the Scot:

Looks like it, ECS path required BH MPD-KR Exchange Line on Tuesday 24th, with those train times being for 0Z46/5Z46.

No, an email went round today to all footplate crew asking for a crew to take it BH - KR and that it would be a 'last chance' to drive/fire it.

Anyway, for as long as I can remember, there shouldn't be a shortage of loco's this year with 6 locos available for santa duties.

uk.steam reports this as a light test run, steam + support + diesel.

RTT reports it as West Coast Railway Company timed for a diesel ecs

WCRC is again reported today as temporarily prohibited from operating steam trains on the mainline rail network, effective at 23.00 tonight (November 24). Diesel power operations are not affected.

I guess it will be diesel hauled, if it wasn't already?
