Pete,
Once again a new document has not yet appeared in SVRonline

The last time Bill made the entry though I gather it is not his responsibility

It appears to be the fifth in a series of updates, none of which are on SVROnline.

There have indeed been daily countdowns.

I have emailed up the line to point out they are not on SVROnline

In the interim line managers should have them.

Regards

Hopefully they don't get too many emails - I'd also been in contact with someone about these (and other) NBIs!

It has now successfully arrived at Kidderminster, going by the many photos appearing, having fixed the dead battery/polished the dirty smoke deflector/corrected the headboard alignment/found the missing wheel/repaired the invisibility cloak on the Class 47/[insert story of your own choice here].

NBI today:

The SVR will be one of the first heritage Railways where fans can see the famous locomotive back in steam, and resplendent in its BR brunswick green livery, following the completion of a painstaking 4.2m project to bring it back to life at Riley & Sons engineering in Bury, Lancs.
This months SR front cover headlines the overhaul costing 6.8 m's. What a lot of money!

Yes, what a lot of money! But to be accurate, the 6.8m includes the purchase price - the restoration was 4.5m.

But still a lot of money.

Could have built a replica and called it 'Flying Tornado' for a bit less. Smile

Better still - could have built something with Swindon pedigree! I'll get my coat. Wink

I have just seen Scotsman on the ELR this last Friday to Sunday. Every train virtually sold out. Every diner sold out at nearly 100 a ticket. I reckon that at the end of it,s 10 year ticket it will more than have recouped it's overhaul costs. Whilst most enthusiasts are a bit lukewarm about the engine, the paying public just can't get enough of it at the moment.

The GWR's answer to 'Flying Scotsman' already exists; it is No.4079 'Pendennis Castle' currently under overhaul at Didcot. The work will certainly cost much less than that for FS; the GWR built quality into its locos.
