We have a very special announcement on Friday!
We'll be revealing the first locomotive visiting us for our Spring Steam Gala from March 18th - 20th next year.
If you can't contain your excitement, here's a clue: this locomotive was once shedded on Severn Valley metals...

Taking "shedded on SVR metals" to mean "resident on the SVR post-preservation", pick one of these: http://www.svrwiki.com/Former_Residents#Steam_locomotives

I'd assume that 5786, 46521, and 70000 are out due to having visited recently. Still plenty of choice...

I'd go with Leander or Galatea.

SKP is going to West Somerset. Any bets on a former SVR resident coming the other way..

A small loco, so let's hope some "local" trains for the gala and not just end to end running.

Website confirms, with more info:

We are pleased to announce that Pannier Tank No. 6430 will be attending our Spring Steam Gala next year!

The Spring Steam Gala running from March 18th - 20th, kicks off our year in style, with the Auto-fitted Pannier being the first locomotive in a long list of engines set to venture to the Severn Valley Railway in 2016.

The quintessential branch-line locomotive, No. 6430 was a resident at Kidderminster Shed from 1937, and returns to Severn Valley metals for the first time since it moved to South Wales in 1940.

Visiting from the Llangollen Railway and courtesy of Hugh Shipton, the Pannier will work with an Autocoach alongside resident No. 1450 during the Gala, creating the tantalising sight of two Autotrains steaming along the line.

Nicknamed Pannier Tanks due to the siting of their water tanks either side of the boiler, No. 6430 provides a taste of things to come as under-overhaul resident No. 7714 is due out of the locomotive works later in 2016.

Further exciting locomotive announcements will be coming very soon!

Tickets will be available very soon, so make sure you pre-book and save!

In the right thead this time

Quote:
All locomotives great and small!
Our second visting locomotive for our Spring Gala might not be what you expected...

One of our 2 foot, 3 inch cousins at the Talyllyn Railway will be venturing to the Midlands from West Wales to star in our Spring Steam Gala.

No. 4 Edward Thomas will be following in the footsteps of No. 3 Sir Haydn which appeared at our Autumn Steam Gala in 2013 on the back of a wagon.

From March 18th to 20th, the visiting narrow gauge locomotive will be in steam on a temporary track for all to see.

The 0-4-2ST was built in 1921 by Kerr, Stuart & Co. Ltd. for use on the Corris Railway, and was purchased by the Talyllyn in 1951 and named after the TR's former manager.

Famed as Peter Sam in the Thomas the Tank Engine novels, No. 4's visit to the Severn Valley is sure to turn some heads...this little engine is sure to be a big attraction!

Merry Christmas!

Patrick

We are thrilled to announce our third visiting locomotive for our Spring Steam Gala!

Fresh from overhaul, No. 6990 Witherslack Hall ventures from the East Midlands to the West Midlands for our season opener.

Joining already confirmed Pannier Tank No. 6430 and Talyllyn Railway No. 4, the Spring Steam Gala running from March 18th - 20th is set to showcase a tantalising selection of steam power in a variety of shapes and sizes.

Tickets for our Spring Steam Gala are now available, so make sure you pre-book and save!

A nice start to 2016!

So far I'm preferring the spring gala offering to the autumn one!
