I am slightly concerned that the last train back from Bridgnorth to Kidderminster on Friday & Saturday is the limited accommodation Autotrain. How will we handle any passengers who won't fit on? The non-stop run could be very popular.

Yes, as soon as I saw that, I thought exactly the same. Ideally, for the last train, you want a full rake stopping at all stations. Instead, we have got a non stop auto train! Also, that is the only evening (what I would call 'evening' any way) train going southbound during the whole gala, which means it is likely to be even busier.

In a most uncharacteristic fashion, the gala timetable has been published more than a week or two before the event: http://www.svr.co.uk/SEItem.aspx?a=109

Reading the SVR page linked to above, it refers to "Brake Van Rides on a heritage goods train." The "G" service on the timetable says "Goods train. Does not carry passengers". Are they one and the same thing?

Also a bit picky, but the page refers to Port Talbot Railway Tank No. 813. Should that not be Ex-Port Talbot Railway Tank No. 813, as I believe the renumbering was post-absorption.

That's strange. They're still advertising brake van rides, yet when I tried to charter a goods train in November on behalf of the GWR 813 Fund, I was told that it wouldn't be possible as the only available brake vans are not fitted with through brakes.

Still unchanged from when I queried this on 28 July above.

Whilst I wouldn't usually bother with (what basically amounts to) the steam gala, I beleive I'll be coming to this one. Love the smaller engine theme again and this is FAR more up my street than all that pacific nonsense.

If I can book the time off, I'll try to come back for it (also an excuse to pick up stuff from home).

My post was entirely a personal viewpoint. I thought it was a load of nonsense and had no interest in it, as is my personal prerogative.

As I said, the smaller engine theme suits my personal tastes far better.
