Following the hugely successful event in 2016, 2017's diesel bonanza brings great opportunities for visiting locomotives and, with the lighter evenings, we are sure that May will be a hit with those who love the sounds of English Electric, Maybach and Sulzer diesel engines!

Special attractions:
Kidderminster Diesel Depot open for visits
Brake van rides at Highley on all three days, featuring No. D2961 - a locomotive normally confined to Bridgnorth Boiler Shop. Available from 10.30 - 13.00 & 14.00 - 16.30 on a first come, first served basis.
A sight not to be missed: the two surviving Class 45/0 variants working alongside each other for the first time in preservation!
Hired-in Mk2 air-conditioned carriages

Interesting to note they've decided to hire in a rake of MK2s, a sensible move given the crowding in the 4TC last year!

Lest anyone think this was only/first on FB, it is from Jonathan Dunster and I loaded it to SVRLive a couple of days ago (Kidderminster TMD appeal page, accessed from the Charitable Trust page and the diesel gala news item). You heard it there first!

When I responded to the query on the official FB page I carried across the same information.

SVR website reports

'Due to ongoing maintenance, previously announced visiting locomotive Class 37 No. D6700 from the National Railway Museum will no longer be appearing at the event. Additionally, Class 20s No. D8059 and No. D8188 will not be appearing either. We apologise for any disappointment this may cause.'

An unconfirmed FB comment says D6700 is awaiting parts and materials.

D6700 was rostered for two days on the diesel turn immediately following the gala, so expect an updated version of the diesel roster too.
