It was Frank Cronin's last link 1 turn today (he will continue on link 2) and also the last time him and his son (Kev, who is now also a driver) will be on the footplate together. Think its fair to say Frank is one of the most well liked characters on the SVR...

And also the MRTS [Manchester Rail Travel Society] headboard which was used on the trains he and Bernard Crick organised in 1966-68 to raise funds to buy their loco, the Jinty 47383!

Link 1 turns are on the timetabled services at weekends & bank holidays where crews are rostered in rotation. (and swap if the rostered turn is inconvenient)

Link 2 crews are not on the Link 1 regular roster but, subject to completing the required annual minimum number, fill in other turns such as specials or midweek. Rostering in this link is by volunteering availability for each turn.
