A general question.

I have noticed the forum has become pretty quiet over recent times. Where has everybody gone? Is there now another place to talk?

I had been thinking the same.
A great Spring Gala, and hardly a mention of anything on here.
I just hope they haven't all gone to Facebook, as I'm with Sharpe on that.
It would be a great shame if enthusiasts stopped posting on here!

As Reg's comment has been viewed 12 times in less than an hour, people are obviously still using the forum, but just not posting.
Apologies to Sharpo, my I pad changed his name from what I wrote!

You'll need to ask the enthusiasts themselves why they're not posting here.
Could I suggest posting a question on Facebook as the best place to contact them? Wink

As I have no wish to ever join Facebook, could I ask that someone does as Graham has suggested, and asks the enthusists who are no longer posting on the forum, but appear to still be reading it, why they no longer post.
Is it because the Railway now has an official Facebook page, or because they don't believe people are still reading the forum?
If the forum has had it's day, due to facebook, I think that would be very sad, as any idiot with a facebook account can post on there, but on here you actually have to have an interest in our Railway to be accepted in the first place, and it has webmasters checking if comments posted are appropriate.

Dear All, thank you for the comments and just maybe the folk who have gone elsewhere will one day return?

Like Sheila K, Sharpo and others the American Facebook system is not for me and I will stay with this forum. Long may it continue.

I suspect that many have gone to Facebook as there is a very busy group https://www.facebook.com/groups/2360466988/ here with lots of images and discussion

But so does this Forum. As a 'closed' Facebook group, it means you've got to go out of your way to apply to join it, which to some extent removes the total rubbish you'd get otherwise. There's a lot more activity there these days than on the forum -- people find that they can post photos very easily -- both lineside photographers and workers on the railway photographing things they've been doing, including loco, P.way and wagon repair work [and a lot more!]

No it doesn't, not to read this post. Part of the forum is public and doesn't need a log in!

I was referring to that earlier post, why hide images and discussion behind a log in? I'm sure there are many people who would want to "read" but not post or reply.
