I see the first visitor has been announced - Schools Class 'Repton' from the NYMR (assuming her overhaul is completed in time) Can we hire the Maunsell coaches from the Bluebell to match?

That would be an ace idea.

A "big four" gala with one guest loco from each company in the right livery each paired with our own sets of LNER, LMS and GWR coaches plus a hired in set of Southern coaches would be quite a spectacle. A bit limited in LMS liveried locos at the moment, I believe the only big locos at the moment being an 8f, a crab and Princess Elizabeth, which is currently out of service. Maybe one for a few years time when 6201 is operational and the overhaul program on set N is finished.

There was a post on the official FB saying the next two would be announced on Monday. A comment suggested that the two visitors haven't visited the SVR before, narrows it down a bit.

SVR Website has announced two more visiting engines for the Autumn Gala, these are:

No. 564 - Great Eastern Railway 'Y14' and

No. 323 Bluebell - South Eastern & Chatham Railway 'P'

I am looking into getting a ticket for the goods train brake van on the Thursday preview day.

I have done this in the past, but cannot see anything online for this at the moment, only that goods train brake van rides (& footplate experience) are running on the Thursday.

Has anything been announced yet, as I am eager to make sure I have tickets, as accommodation and time off are all sorted.

Thanks in advance

The SVR website reports that Prince is visiting and running on a short track at The Engine House.

From the SVR website:

Autumn Steam Gala - Working Timetable

Ideal for the steam enthusiast, our detailed Working Timetable booklet provides full details of all train movements, including passenger, light engine and goods, which locomotive will be working which train and the locomotives to be used each day.

Use this option to purchase a Working Timetable. This can be added to your shopping basket when you purchase travel tickets.

Working Timetables will be dispatched by post in early September.

5.00 each.

Then click on link to place order

Good afternoon,

When exactly are the WTT's going to be posted out, as last year mine arrived after I had set off to Bridgnorth. In years gone past, one could comfortably plan the weekend in advance, but not now. Surely if the public timetable is available, it must be based on some sort of Working Timetable? Not long to go now.

Best regards,

Reg.

From a Facebook reply:

"For those who have pre-ordered tickets, your working timetable should arrive in the week preceding the event"

If this is a problem, you should phone Head Office

Thanks Patrick, but that doesn't help those of us who have travel passes, and just require the WTT. Last year we only got them a couple of days before the event started, and the engine allocations had not been put on. This took about 2-3 hours, copying from 1 place to the scheduled movements themselves. If the timetable is ready, it should be sent out as early as possible, especially as the SVR Website says Early September. It's already the 7th, to me that is early September.

To answer my own post, the SVR website now says they will be posted out by 15th September, which is a Friday. That means people will probably not get them until the Monday before the gala, just like 2 years ago. This is not acceptable, we need them at least the weekend before the gala starts to be able to plan. As the SVR website previously said early September, I wonder who actually thinks the 15th is early, to me it is Mid!

I understand the WTT has now been finalised after some changes were made. Hence the delay.

Hi,

We are now one week away from the start of the event, and there is still no sign of the said document. Is there any more news on a possible publication date? At this rate, it would be easier to collect on arrival, and reclaim the admin charge. If there are still changes being made, is the "public" timetable still valid?

Best regards,

Reg.
