BBC1 Midlands News at 18.30. You can probably catch it on iPlayer.

Live report from Highley, and coverage of a special train hauled by 7714 for those involved with the recovery work ten years ago.
Included interviews with Mike Ball, Mick York, and Keith Brown, and with Nick Ralls live at Highley.
In the background on one of the interviews there was the Belmond Pullman, was it at Arley?

As ever, excellent publicity.

As an aside, there is a well produced colour booklet from Silver Link, written by Phil Sowden which covers the detail of the disaster ten years ago, and the work necessary to mend the railway. My copy came from the SVR shop at Bridgnorth. ( The Nostalgia collection, no.24, Severn Valley Recollections, The story of the Big Flood.)

Well worth a purchase.

Rob

Yes, it was Arley. I didn't go to see it though.

I suppose it is ironic that ten years on the SVR is faced with a new substantial embankment slip, apparently geology-related. The report from Mr Bond did raise the question as to whether this work could be completed without closing the line at that point. Is there any further information on this point? Clearly running a truncated service even for just a couple of weeks would have an adverse financial effect.
