I've had a look, great photos, who's the crew on 7812??

You were a brave snapper in that weather, including the brisk 'shower' at Arley!! They are very good shots.

It was rather windy at Arley and once I'd gone lineside (with my lineside photo pass) a shower started as well as the wind still blowing.
A good day though and good to see both Manors working and 7812 in particular was talking quite nicely! Smile

Cheers,

Paul

My photo of the two Manors passing was rather dark and as it has received quite a few hits on my fotopic site I have had my first dabble in photoshop and have simply lightened it up a bit. See what you think.

Cheers,

Paul

Yesterday I finally got around to travelling on the valley for the first time since the dreaded floods closed the railway almost a year ago. After being told by a member of staff at Bridgnorth that there was only 2 in steam, I was delighted to count no less than 6 locos in steam (45110, 7802. 7812, 7754, 46443, 4566). I was also thrilled to finally get to see the photographs I donated to the railway for use on the locomotive display boards in the engine house.

While travelling on the railway, I also managed to get these shots of the two manors passing at Arley. Note the only airworthy Lancaster bomber in the second shot. This is no illusion created in photoshop, this was real. I believe it had taken part in the Cosford airshow that also happened to be taking place yesterday.

I would also like to say Thank you to everyone at the Valley for such a super day.

Regards

Phil

Good shot there Phil. The best I could have done during the day was when they passed tender first, and without the 'plane. Needless to say I didn't take a photo.

presume u mean 5764, not 7754, which doesn't live here - it's at Llangollen!
Plus 7714 lit up in the afternoon at Bridgnorth ready for following day's service.

I was stood on the down loop platform at AY when the 2 manors and the Lancaster met - and I did wonder if anyone had caught it. A truly great photo. People were discussing here on how often 2 manors had met on the SVR in the past (not very seemed to be the answer), but the chances of ever recreating your shot, must be fairly near zero! One to send in to the SVR News maybe...?

Whoops. Your right. How careless of me.

It was more luck than anything else. It was only after we left Bewdley behind 7812 when I realised that 7802 would be coming in the other direction. I then wondered if we could get off at Arley, run across to the other platform before 7802 arrived. The first shot was what I had originally planned for but the unexpected sight of the Lancaster forced me into having a quick rethink for the second.

Great stuff Phil!
Perhaps you should find an empty spot above your fireplace.
Definitely a once in a lifetime effort.

Regards,

Paul
